ADDING TO THE R9 FAMILY, TEST
October 5th, 2009

First we got the revolutionary R9 driver and R9 fairway metals, which was followed soon after by the larger headed R9 460. Now stand by for the R9 Irons, another ground-breaking advance in iron technology from TaylorMade Golf.

The Tour Players’ version features serious performance technology in a classic player’s shape and size. The clean-looking, beautiful and workable head design will appeal to the skilled player, but there is hidden technology in the head that will help all players. In the 2 to 5-iorn, there is, in addition to the expected inverted cone technology, Velocity-Control Chamber, which promotes fast and consistent ball speed across the clubface. Also, in the TP version, there are progressive changes in head construction and face thickness from short-irons to long-irons. This, in turn, ensures that there is progression from increased control in short irons to increased ball speed in longer irons.

The standard R9 irons also feature VCC foam, silicone shock absorber and vibration-quieting cavity badge, which reduces vibration, giving excellent feel and sound. The Optimised Inverted Cone gives a 10% increase in COR zone for more distance control, especially in off-centre hits.

For the first time, both the R9 and R9Tp irons will feature KBS steel shafts that promote increased distance, feel and control for every player type.
Plenty of reasons then to give the new R9 irons a go. They will be available at all TaylorMade retail stockists from 1 November – and in case you’re wondering, their grooves are R&A approved!
