GO DEEPER WITH PENTA
October 5th, 2009

You’ve probably heard about the excellent feedback from TaylorMade Tour Staff who have been test-driving TaylorMade’s new five-piece golf ball. Well, shortly you too can experience the best of both the TP Red and the TP Black in TaylorMade’s new Penta golf ball.

The Penta TP comprises a cover, three mantle layers and a solid core. As with most solid-core balls, the cover imparts spin and feel while the core supplies speed and impacts sound. The mantle layer immediately under the cover is designed to affect short-iron shots, the middle mantle aids mid-iron shots and the inner mantle affects long-iron shots.

"We modelled to see what layers affected what shots," said Dean Snell, senior director of golf ball research and development for TaylorMade. "Mid and longs irons were affected by all five layers while others, such as short pitch shots, were impacted only by the cover and inner mantle."
So now you have a ball with low spin and high launch angle for the longest drives, while it has plenty of spin for tight pitches around the greens and feels soft for putting. If the reaction from Tour players who have tried it is anything to go by, this new ball is indeed revolutionary!
It’s five layers with every layer designed to provide optimal performance on every shot. Sure, like all premium balls, it’s engineered for Tour players; the difference here is, it’s playable for everyone.

Look out for it at all TaylorMade retail stockists in early 2010…
