TaylorMade Dialed-in at AT&T Classic
Duluth, Georgia (May 23, 2007) - Another big driver week as our 64 drivers outdistanced second-place Titleist by 29. Combined there were 33 Burners and SuperQuads out there; meanwhile Callaway had 17, Ping had 16, Cleveland had 9 and Nike had 9. Clearly, our new drivers are a huge hit on tour as we had 19 players using the Burner -- most in any Tour event this season. Players who put new TM drivers in play here included Tripp Isenhour (Burner), JL Lewis (SuperQuad), Lee Janzen (SuperQuad), David Toms (Burner), Jeff Brehaut (SuperQuad), BJ Staten (who was thrilled we had a lefty Burner for him), Paul Stankowski (SuperQuad) and Matt Goggin (Burner and SuperQuad). It was especially gratifying to see Lee use our driver as we'd worked with him for a while to achieve the optimum fit. We also had the pleasure of working with 59-year old Larry Nelson, a multiple major winner and one-time TaylorMade Tour Staff pro. Larry tried a variety of new products and ended up using an r7 425 driver, r7 Steel 3-wood, Rescue TP hybrid and r7 TP 6-PW irons.
A couple of players requested new sets of irons; Cameron Beckman got a new set of MB TPs and Brian Bateman took home a set of r7 TPs to test. Peter Lonard complained that he was taking deep divots with his rac TPs, so we put him on the lie-board and found out that they needed to be adjusted three degrees upright. Mathias Gronberg tried a couple of different iron shafts and settled on r7 TPs with Dynamic Gold 200, which he put into play.
